What a weekend I’ve just had.
Firstly, I was visiting my home village of Great Chishill (the setting for the hero’s secret base in my Dr Adam Price Adventure novels), to help my Dad celebrate his 91st Birthday. Yes, very well done indeed!
As I was staying a few days, I’d taken the opportunity to make some appointments in the hope of being able to promote my three novels – Price: World, Price Polestarr & the newest adventure Price: Dark Crater.
First stop on an early Thursday morning was my old Secondary School – Melbourn Village College (A Reading School), where I met the Principle’s assistant. After a quick tour of the main entrance lobby & corridor (not much has changed since 1975!), we visited the School’s Library, where I posed for a few pictures with my novels. These pictures will appear in the School’s newsletter to Parents etc. If I manage to get a copy, I’ll share it here.
They gratefully accepted my donation of all 3 of my novels, as a former pupil (1975-1980), allowing me to fulfil a promise to myself that when sales of my novels allowed, I would re-invest those earnings by donating copies of my novels to local schools. If you know of a school that would like their own copies for the School library, please get in touch. (UK Secondary only / 6th Form only).
Next was a journey to the nearby town (and my old local town) of Royston, where I was delighted to meet Paul, and chat all things publishing and the history behind him starting Royston’s only independent book shop – Bow Books (Angel Pavement, Royston).
I’m delighted to report that Paul is now stocking all three novels in his new 2nd shop – Bow Books Kids (opposite Bow Books in Angel Pavement) – which will cater specifically for youngsters and teenagers, providing then with a welcoming ‘own space’ with which to explore books both new and old.
Finally, upon returning to Derbyshire, I was contacted by a publisher in the USA, interested in opening a dialogue with a view to representing my novels.
That my action & adventure stories have been noticed by a potential publisher is truly humbling and very exciting at the same time, but more on that later.
For now, a few important updates to carry out to my website on where you can purchase my novels. I’ve shared a few pictures below of my travels…
