Hi Everyone!
After publishing my new novel Price: Polestarr via Amazon, I eagerly waited for my first paperback copies to arrive.
When they did, I noticed that the Header & Footer information was curtailed and not displaying correctly – the author / book title in the ‘Header’ and the page numbers in the ‘Footer’.
It’s taken a little while to lock down the issue.
I write my novels in Apple’s Pages programme, having found it ideal for formatting both e-book & paperbacks, plus I write on a Macbook, so for me the choice of writing programme was almost automatic.
However, when uploading a manuscript to Amazon for publishing, they don’t accept Pages files and stipulate Word.doc or pdf files.
When I uploaded my first novel – Price: World, I had difficulties with the pdf file so for Price: Polestarr, I opted for the conversion to a Word.doc.
It seems that during the transition process, Word corrupted the Header / Footer and hence the printed version of the novel showed these two elements curtailed. The novel / story itself is present in its entirety.
Having persevered, I was able earlier today, to finally upload a replacement manuscript that has the correct Header & Footer information showing in full.
My apologies to everyone who’s purchased the paperback version previously and I hope your reading enjoyment has not been affected by the formatting to Amazon’s requirements, for at first, comparing files, it seemed the problem lay with Amazon themselves – perhaps some shift in stated page measurement with what was being printed etc.
So Author frustration over for now..
