That’s how the editor of The Chishills – a monthly parish newsletter that is circulated around my home village of Great Chishill and its sister, Little Chishill – headlined an article on me and my debut novel in September 2024’s issue.

I’m immensely thankful for Will’s (Will Parson the Editor) piece and his and the Villages support of my writing endeavours.

Several friends have already stopped my Father and informed him they’ve bought a copy, with one saying “they hadn’t been able to put it down” and “when was it going to be made into a film?”.

Much of the early story is set in the fictional village of Barnsdale, which was based so very closely on Great Chishill and the immediate surrounding countryside, which I hope residents in the area will immediately recognise.

Such landmarks as the Windmill, the Orchard, The Church, the Pheasant (public house) and even the chalk pit, provide the backdrop to key scenes.

Don’t be put off by the thought of serene & tranquil sounding chapters. The action is very much all go from the off-set.

I’ll be visiting Great Chishill again very soon, but in the meantime, my humble thanks to everyone who’s bought a copy of Price: World, and I hope you really enjoyed the story.
